Ipolani Duvauchelle
Ipolani Duvauchelle is the recipient of The California Foundation’s President’s Award, the Foundation’s highest honor. Ipolani graduated from San Francisco Christian School with a 3.9 cumulative grade point average and ended her final semester with a 4.2 term grade point average. While in school, Ipolani’s father became very ill with a rare disease and his doctor’s had given him only months to live. But Ipolani, her father, and her family fought for his life and now the disease is in remission. She tells us that her parents’ faith and strength kept her going and this experience shaped her into the strong and independent woman she is today. Seeing her father and mother struggle and hurt from her dad’s illness, Ipolani strives to use her life experiences and challenges to help others who are also hurting. Ipolani is currently a student at San Francisco State University and plans to study Counseling or Psychology. Ipolani vows to continue doing her best and strive for the highest degree possible in her field of study, and to make life better for not only herself but for those around her.
Jabarri Robertson
After being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, our very first President’s Award recipient, Jabarri Robertson, will graduate from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He has recently taken the Medical College Admission Test and plans to attend medical school to become a Pediatrician.
Jasmine Gittens
Not only an outstanding and sought after vocalist and dancer, Jasmine Gittens has received exceptional marks at the first and oldest start-up charter high school in the State of California: Leadership High School (LHS). At LHS, Jasmine served as the president of the black student union. Jasmine was also selected by the San Francisco District Attorney’s office to participate in the Changing the Odds Program. Jasmine graduated cum laude from Leadership High School and is attending San Francisco State University and pursuing a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Development. Jasmine plans to become a Clinical Therapist or Psychiatrist.
Autumn Green
Autumn Green began her high school career at Lick-Wilmerding High School and later transferred to Leadership High School. She graduated magna cum laude with a 3.8 grade point average. While at LHS, she was a member of the dance team and the black student union. Autumn currently attends the University of California, Berkeley and is studying business. She plans to continue her graduate studies at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Upon graduating, Autumn will pursue a culinary degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and hopes to open and operate her own baking and pastry company.
